Hiking

When the Zillertal Alps call

Right outside your door at Hotel Alpenjuwel****: a breathtaking high mountain landscape for young and old, hiking opportunities for the whole family, and scenery that inspires! Lush alpine pastures, rustic huts, and emerald-green mountain lakes as far as the eye can see. In the Tuxertal, you can get up close with nature and activate your senses! Feel the heartbeat of the Alps at the foot of the mighty 3,000-meter-high mountain summits!

The alpine world in the Zillertal offers a variety of diverse hiking and mountain tours. There are a total of 55 3,000-meter-high summits to choose from.

Huts & hill farms

What would hiking be without a stop for delicious refreshments? In the surrounding mountains, there is a variety of cozy, rustic hill farms and mountain huts with traditional Tyrolean specialties. Regain your strength with a snack and enjoy the wonderful views. Our personal recommendation is the Bergrestaurant Eggalm, the charming Brandalm, or the Lattenalm.

Exploration tour on the Hintertux Glacier

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from July to September, an experienced glacier guide from the Tuxertal Ski School will take you on an exciting and eventful exploration tour on the Hintertux Glacier. At a spectacular elevation of 3250 m, you can learn more about the surrounding mountains and enjoy breathtaking views. You will hike over centuries-old glacial ice and past mighty, turquoise ice formations and learn interesting information about the formation of our glacier.

Nordic walking

Athletic “full-body training” on the one hand and experiencing the natural Tyrolean landscape on the other: all you need are 2 poles and good shoes. In order to enjoy this sport right from the beginning, we recommend an introductory course with a Nordic walking trainer. The nordicsports active center is located in Tux, which is the high valley at the foot of the Hintertux Glacier. The ideal high-altitude location offers the optimal conditions for sports and nature lovers! Awaiting you in summer are 80 km of Nordic walking routes and 350 km of marked hiking trails.
